Senior Financial Analyst - Planning

Primary Role of This Position
The Senior Financial Analyst – Planning is responsible for leveraging their exceptional analytical skills to utilize data and available systems to support comprehensive financial analysis for key management decision-making.

The individual will be an important part of the Financial Planning team and will support the company in developing the end-to-end annual budget, forecasting, and various profitability analysis. 

Major Responsibilities

  • Preparation of key components of the annual financial budget, mid-year estimate, and long-term forecasts
  • Assist with customer profitability models and other value-add analysis
  • Support the review and management of customer contracts and the relevant financial implications
  • Support month-end reporting to management with a key focus on sales, gross margin, and operational expenses
  • Partner with the business to prepare analysis as required as well as support the development and interpretation of key metrics and KPIs
  • Complete trend analysis to identify risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to management
  • Assist in administrating and optimizing the financial budgeting software, update and simplify budget models and develop new templates to support the business – the role will be relied upon as a super user
  • Apply strong business acumen to influence a culture of continuous improvement by implementing process and job efficiencies
  • Participate as a subject matter expert in special projects as required
  • Other duties and projects as required of the position

Education
  • University degree in Commerce (i.e., BBA, BCom) and/or MBA
  • Accounting designation required
  • 5 years of progressive experience in financial planning, preferably in a wholesale/distribution environment
 
Qualifications
  • A self-starter who thrives on preparing analysis to understand business performance
  • Demonstrates a high level of interest and aptitude for systems and applications to facilitate analysis and improve efficiencies and controls over data
  • Excellent Excel and work experience with Adaptive Insights would be an asset
